The promotional language is remarkably consistent across brands: “supports calm behavior,” “reduces stress,” “promotes relaxation,” “clinically proven ingredients.” Reading the fine print, however, reveals a consistent pattern — the ingredients themselves are often described as “research-backed,” while the finished product has rarely been tested in dogs at all.
This is a category where human clinical research is repackaged as canine certainty. For an industry built on consumer trust in veterinary health, the gap between label claims and published evidence deserves scrutiny.
The Ingredient-by-Ingredient Evidence Audit
