Medical Disclaimer

Important: Dog Supplement Report is a journalism publication, not a source of veterinary advice. Our reporting is for informational purposes only. Always consult a licensed veterinarian about your dog’s health and before giving your dog any supplement.

Journalism, Not Medical Guidance

Dog Supplement Report investigates the pet supplement industry — its products, its claims, its testing results, and its regulatory record. Everything we publish is journalism: reporting about an industry. It is not, and must not be treated as, veterinary advice, a diagnosis, or a recommendation for or against any treatment for your individual animal.

When our reporting finds problems with a product, that is a finding about the product’s labeling, contents, or claims — not a statement about what is medically appropriate for your dog. When our reporting describes research, it describes what studies found in studied populations; it does not prescribe what any individual animal should take.

No Professional Relationship

Reading this site, contacting our newsroom, or interacting with our content does not create a veterinary-client-patient relationship or any professional relationship between you and Dog Supplement Report or its contributors. Individual health guidance for your animal can only come from a licensed veterinarian who has examined it.

Consult Your Veterinarian

Before giving your dog any supplement — including any product discussed in our reporting, favorably or critically — consult your veterinarian. This is especially important if your dog:

  • Has an existing health condition or ongoing symptoms
  • Is taking prescription medication
  • Is a puppy, a senior, pregnant, nursing, or immunocompromised

Supplements can interact with medications and can be inappropriate for particular animals, regardless of what a label claims.

Emergencies

This site is not an emergency resource. If your dog is experiencing a medical emergency — difficulty breathing, collapse, seizures, severe vomiting or diarrhea, suspected poisoning — contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic immediately.

Reporting About Safety Is Not a Safety Guarantee

Our investigations report what documents, testing, and records show at a point in time. Formulations change, batches vary, and new information emerges. A story that identifies no problems with a product is not a guarantee of its safety or efficacy, and a story that identifies problems is not a substitute for professional judgment about your animal’s care.

No Warranties

We work to ensure our reporting is accurate, but we provide it without warranty of completeness or currency, and we accept no liability for actions taken in reliance on it. Where our reporting contains an error, we correct it under our Corrections Policy.
