Corrections Policy

Investigative journalism demands accuracy, and accuracy demands a corrections process with teeth. This policy explains how Dog Supplement Report handles errors — and how anyone, from a reader to the subject of an investigation, can report one.

Our Commitment

We verify before we publish, but no newsroom is infallible. When we get a fact wrong — a name, a number, a characterization of a document, a test result — we correct it. Promptly, visibly, and without regard to whether the correction helps or hurts the subjects of our reporting. A correction is not a weakness in journalism; it is the system working.

Types of Post-Publication Changes

  • Corrections — fixes to factual errors. Material corrections are labeled and dated within the story, stating what was wrong and what the correct information is.
  • Clarifications — edits that make accurate reporting clearer or more precise, without changing its substance.
  • Updates — new verified information added to a developing story, clearly marked with a timestamp. Updates extend a story; they do not quietly rewrite it.

We do not silently edit published reporting. If a story changes in a material way, readers can see that it changed, when, and why.

How to Report an Error

To report a potential error, email hello@dogsupplementreport.com with the subject line “Correction Request.” Please include:

  • The URL of the story
  • The specific passage in question
  • The information you believe is correct, with supporting documentation where available
  • Your name and affiliation, if you are willing to share them

Correction requests are reviewed by editors who were not the primary reporters on the story, to ensure an impartial assessment.

Requests From Story Subjects

Companies and individuals covered by our reporting have the same access to our corrections process as any reader — and receive the same standard of review. A request accompanied by documentation that demonstrates a factual error will be corrected. A request that merely disputes an accurate characterization, or that relitigates editorial judgment, will be declined, with our reasoning provided.

The corrections process is not a renegotiation of a story. It is a mechanism for fixing errors.

Timing

We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two business days and to resolve straightforward factual matters within five. Requests requiring re-verification of documents or test results may take longer; we will say so when they do.

How Corrections Are Displayed

Material corrections appear within the affected story — typically at the top or adjacent to the corrected passage — with the date of the correction and a concise description of the change. Minor typographical fixes may be made without a note.
